Games to be scored on the provided score cards. Results to be sent to The Competition Manager via message before the Tuesday immediately following the game.

PLAYING CONDITIONS / RULES
Team Composition: 8 per side
Only 3 current senior players, 1 of which may be a premier grade player
The competition manager reserves the right to reverse a result of a match if a player is unfairly played.
Remember this is social cricket not the IPL
Bowling:
2 overs maximum per bowler
If a team is short of players the opposition captain will select 2 separate bowlers to make up the overs. No bowler can bowl more than 4 overs or consecutive overs if a team does not have 8 players.
3 step run-up maximum. (Dead Ball any infringements from square leg before delivery), bowlers run up must not start behind the umpire.
8 ball maximum over except the last over of the innings
No Mankads
There are no LBW’s
Batting:
8 players will bat. If a side is seven wickets down, the last remaining batsman will face all remaining deliveries (swapping ends when required) or until out. Another player will act as a runner from the non-striker's end only if there are no retired batsman (this player must be fully padded up including bat as if he/she were facing the bowler)
Batsmen must retire as soon as they have scored 30+ runs and are able to come back in at the fall of the 7th wicket. If there is more than one retired batsman, the next batsman is the person who retired first.
A batsman cannot be out for a Golden Duck (first ball). This is the first legitimate ball faced, therefore a wide or no ball does not count as the first ball. The only exception is run-out when running more than 1 run (e.g their 2nd run or greater).
Wides: Return crease on the Offside; ½ way to return crease on Leg side.
Wide Penalty: Re bowl the ball, a legal delivery must happen.
No Balls: All short pitched balls bouncing over shoulder - Remember this is social cricket not Test Cricket - we shouldn’t be bowling bouncers
All full deliveries over waist.
The ball cannot bounce more than twice before the crease line
Front Foot no ball rule applies
No Ball Penalties: Re bowl the ball, a legal delivery must happen.
Byes: Are only counted if mutually agreed but the captains of each team.
The Ball: 156gm 2-piece red ball – Kookaburra Commander, Crown or Red King (new or used) will be supplied to each team. Once at the start of the competition and one at the halfway point. Should a team wish to purchase an additional ball they can do so via the Competition Manager at market rate.
Boundaries: Marked by pegs or cones - the competition manager will supply an initial set. The boundary will be marked with a painted dot.
Gear: Teams to provide their own gear.
It is encouraged that batsmen must wear the relevant safety gear, pads, gloves, box etc. Minimum requirement is one batting pad.
Wicket keeper gloves are encouraged at all times for the wicket keeper
A team gear bag can be purchased from the competitions manager containing any or all of the following:
2 x bats (these are English Willow bats ranging from $450 - $600 each)
2 x batting pads
2 x batting gloves
1 x keeping gloves
1 x bag
1 x set of stumps
Should you only require individual items The Competition Manager can arrange gear to purchase.
Clothing: Team strips are encouraged but casual clothing may be worn. Soft sole shoes are required as metal sprigged footwear is not permitted to be worn. Individual responsibility is encouraged.
Umpires:
Umpires to be supplied by the batting team. The square leg umpire should be the person next in the batting order to ensure that the game flows at a reasonable pace.
Behavior:
Unacceptable behavior or misconduct will be viewed seriously by The Competition Manager and captains MUST at all times up-hold the “Spirit of Cricket”.
NO alcohol is to be consumed on the field of play during the course of the match. It is encouraged that can’s are the primary drinking vessel over glass.
Teams will be penalized at the discretion of the Competition Manager for not cleaning up their mess. Rubbish bins are located around all the park's entrances.
Semi-Final/Finals
Semi-Finals will consist of the top 4 teams. 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 with the winner progressing. In the event of no play the top qualifiers will move to the final. The Competition Manager will consider a reserve day for the final and this will be communicated prior to the scheduled final.
It is the The Competition Manager's intention to find a way to play to get a result on the park by playing a game. For example if a full game is unable to be completed it may be decided prior to the final that a bowl off or super over could determine the winner of the competition.
Disputes:
Any dispute will be dealt with by the The Competition Manager and/or the Committee of Pāpāmoa Cricket Club and their decision will be final.
Any clarification of rules or eligibility of players please contact The Competition Manager.
